Mendip District Council
Consultancy Team Lead for the Appointment of a Project Manager on behalf of the Council
In 2010, Laura supported the former Mendip District Council to develop a new workplace strategy and an invest-to-save business case aimed at improving its civic campus.
The campus, comprising four buildings totaling 3,982 square meters, housed more than 300 Council and Capita staff and Members. With only a quarter of staff fully office-based, the Council’s objective was to optimise its assets and achieve long-term savings.
With the workplace strategy set and business case approved, the Council required specialist resource to ensure successful delivery of the campus realignment works. Given her in-depth knowledge of the civic campus and the objectives of the workplace strategy, Laura and her technical buildings colleagues, were appointed to scope and lead a procurement process to appoint a team of project managers on behalf of the Council.
Laura prepared a detailed briefing pack outlining the objectives for the campus and the project manager’s role, and worked with Council Officers to establish evaluation criteria to ensure value for money. The project manager opportunity was advertised, and expressions of interest were invited, reviewed, and shortlisted.
Shortlisted bidders were engaged and any clarifications resolved before final proposals were invited and a preferred bidder identified. Laura and her team supported the onboarding of the preferred bidder, ensuring a comprehensive briefing and seamless handover.
